Raazdaro se bachkar chalta hoon
ghamghusaaron se bachkar chalta hoon
mujhko dhoka diya sahaaron ne
ab sahaaron se bachkar chalta hoon

Gham-E-Dil Ko Inn Aakhon Se Chalak Jana Bhi Aata Hai
Tarapna Bhi Hamein Aata Hai Tarpaana Bhi Aata Hai
Kisi Ki Yaad Mein Jo Zindagi Hum Ne Guzaari Hai
Hamein Woh Zindagi Apni Mohabbat Se Bhi Pyari Hai
Woh Aayein Ru-Ba-Ru Hum Dastaan Apni Sunayein Ge
Kuch Apna Dil Jalayein Ge, Kuch Unnko Aazmayein Ge
Dabe Paaon Hamein Aa Kar Kisi Ka Gud-Gudaa Dena
Woh Apna Rooth Jana Aur Woh Unnka Manaa Lena
Woh Manzar Jhaankte Hain Aaj Bhi Yaadon Ki Chilman Se
Bhula Sakta Hai Kaise Koi Woh Anzaad Bachpan Ke
Hamein Aata Nahi Hai Pyar Mein Be-Aabru Hona
Sikhaya Husn Ko Hum Ne Wafaa Mein Surkhuroo Hona
Hum Apne Khoon-E-Dil Se Zindagi Ki Maang Bhar Dein Ge
Yeh Dil Kya Cheez Hai, Hum Jaan Bhi Qurbaan Kar Dein Ge

Aankhain khuli rahain gi toh manzar bih ayengai

Pehchaan lo tamaam faqeeron kay khadd-o-khaal
Kuch log shab ko bhais badal kar bhi ayengai
Gehri khamosh jheel kay paani ko yun na chaidh
Cheenthay uday toh teri qaba par bhi ayengai
Khud ko chhupa na sheesha garon ki dukhaan mai
Sheeshay chamak rahey hain toh pathar bhi ayengai
Aye shehr yaar dasht say fursat nahi — magar!!

Ye meri ghazlen ye meri nazmen
Tamam teri hikayaten hain
Ye tazkare tere lutf ke hain
Ye shair teri shikayaten hain
Main teri nazar kar raha hun
Ye un zamanon ki sa’aten hain
Jo zindagi ke naiy safar main
Tujhe kissi waqt yaad aain
To aik ik harf ji uthay ga
Pehn ke anfas ki qabain
Udas tanhaoyon ke lamhon
Main naach uthen gi ye apsaraain
Mujhe tere dard ke ilawa bhi
Aur dukh the ye manta hun
Hazar gham the jo zindagi ki
Talash main the ye janta hun
Mujhe khabar thi keh tere aanchal main
Dard ki rait chanta hun
Magar har ik baar tujh ko chu kar
Ye rait rang-e-hina bani hai
Ye zakham gulzar ban gaye hain
Ye aah-e-sozan ghata bani hai
Ye dard moj-e-saba huwa hai
Ye aag dil ki sada bani hai
Aur ab ye sari mata-e-hasti
Ye phool ye zakhm sab tere hain
Ye dukh ke nohay,ye sunk ke naghme
Jo kal mere the wo ab tere hain
Jo teri qurbat teri judai
Main kat gaye roz-o-shab tere hain
Wo tera sha’air tea mughanni
Wo jis ki baten ajeeb si theen
Wo jis ke andas khusarwana the
Aur adaain gharib si theen
Wo jis ki jeene ki khahishen bhi
Khud us ke naseeb si theen
Na pooch us ka keh wo dewana
Both dinon ka ujar chuka hai
Wo kohkan to nahin tha lekin
Kari chatanon se larh chuka hai
Wo thak chukka tha aur us ka tesha
Ussi ke seenay main garh chuka hai
Tamam friends se appeal hai keh aap Faraz sahab ke liye maghfarat ki dua karen.

Great Urdu Poet Ahmed Faraz is no more with us

ISLAMABAD, Aug 26, 2008: Renowned poet and literary figure Ahmed Faraz has passed away here on Monday.
He was under treatment at a local hospital in Islamabad, according to Geo News. His son Shibli Faraz has also confirmed the news that Faraz has passed away.
Syed Ahmad Shah or Ahmed Faraz (January 14, 1934 – August 25, 2008) is considered one of the greatest modern Urdu poets of the last century and greatest living Urdu poet of present times. Faraz is his pseudonym ‘takhallus’, whereas his real name is Syed Ahmed Shah. Ahmed Faraz died at Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad on August 25, 2008
Faraz, who has been compared with Mohammad Iqbal and Faiz Ahmed Faiz, holds a unique position as one of the best poets of current times, with a fine but simplistic style of writing, even common people can easily understand and identify with. Ethnically a pashto-speaking Pashtun, Ahmed Faraz learned and studied Persian and Urdu at the Peshawar University where he taught these subjects later.
His poems were so upsetting to the powerful, he was exiled during the regime of Gen. Zia al-Haq. The Dawn said the military dictator couldn’t tolerate Faraz’s association with the Peoples Party government after he became the head of the Pakistan Academy of Letters.
When democratic rule returned, he was named head of Pakistan’s National Book Foundation.

Urdu Society to celebrate poet’s birth anniversary

THE Pakistan Urdu Literary Society (Halqa-e-Adab) will celebrate Iqbal Day on Friday, marking the 130th birth anniversary of Pakistan’s national leader and poet Allama Mohammed Iqbal.
The event will be held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers in Juffair at 5.30pm and all Pakistani community members are welcome to attend.
Separate seats for women will be available.
Iqbal is best known for his poetic works, including Asrar-e-Khudi – which brought a knighthood – Rumuz-e-Bekhudi, and the Bang-e-Dara, with its enduring patriotic song Sare Jahan Se Acha Hindustan Humara (India is the best amongst the whole world).
Iqbal was a strong proponent of the political and spiritual revival of Islamic civilisation across the world, specifically in India.
One of the most prominent leaders of the All India Muslim League, Iqbal encouraged the creation of a “state in northwestern India for Indian Muslims” in his 1930 presidential address.
Iqbal encouraged and worked closely with Muhammad Ali Jinnah and he is known as Muffakir-e-Pakistan (The Thinker of Pakistan), Shair-e-Mashriq (The Poet of the East), and Hakeem-ul-Ummat (The Sage of Ummah).
He is officially recognised as the “national poet” in Pakistan.
Highlights of the programme will be the welcome speech by the society chairman Rizwan Mumtaz.
No nation can afford to allow the memories and achievements of its heroes fade into oblivion, said Mr Mumtaz.
“Iqbal Day has always been a traditional programme at the Pakistan Club, actively participated by the members from all walks of life.”
Local poets Abdulhaq Arif, Mohammed Ashraf Asim, Mohammed Anwar Bhatti, Anwar Bhatti, Iqbal Tariq and Riaz Shahid will join poets from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and recite highlights of Iqbal’s inspirational poetry, followed by a quiz competition.

Row over new Urdu school building

HUBLI:Controversy has cropped up over an Urdu primary school building coming up in Unkal, as the public allege that the structure is encroaching on land reserved for garden.
Hubli rural block of the Public Instruction Department is constructing a new building for the Urdu medium school on agriculture land which it got from a local donor.
Convenor of the Unkal Jana Jagarana Vedike, Sanju Badaskar said they had intimated the sensitivity of the matter to the authorities concerned several times verbally and in writing.
He noted that as the Muslim population in Unkal village is less, running a school there will not serve any purpose.
Expressing doubts over the hurry in starting the construction work, Badaskar said the officials were misleading the public saying that no permission was necessary to construct a government school.
He asked officials to show blue print and permission from the authority.
Block Education Officer (Hubli rural) P S Mullur brushed aside the allegation of encroachment and said the department is running an Urdu school since 1991 at a local masjid as it does not have its own building.
Records show that earlier there was an Urdu Higher Primary School. The department has received Rs 4.4 lakh under Sarava Shikha Abhiyan to build two classrooms.
The allegations have a communal angle. The Jana Jagarana Vedike has appealed to shift the location of the school. AN Urdu school near a temple could ignite communal sentiments of either community and disturb the peace
