Yeh nigaah-e-husn jhukee jhukee, yeh jabeen-e-naaz dhuaaN dhuaaN
Meray bas ki ab naheeN daastaaN, mera kaaNpta hai ruaaN ruaaN

Ho tilism-e-aalaam-e-raNg o boo, ke hareem-e-anjum o kehkashaaN
Mera saath dey gee mery nazar, woh chhupeiN ge jaa ke kahaaN kahaaN?

Meray dil pe naqsh haiN aaj tak woh ba ehtiyaat nawaazisheiN
Woh Ghuroor o zabt ‘ayaaN ‘ayaaN, woh Khuloos o rabt nehaaN nehaaN

Na safar ba shart-e-ma-aal hai, na talab baqaid-e-sawaal hai
Faqat aik sairy-e-zauq ko, maiN bhaTak raha huN kahaaaN kahaaN

Mery KhilwatoN ki ye jannateiN kayee baar saj ke ujaR chukeeN
Mujhay baarha ye huwa gumaaN, ke tum aa rahey jo kashaaN kashaaN

HaiN hunooz yaad woh qurbateiN, woh neyaaz o naaz woh sohbateiN
Woh tuloo’-e-subha Khunuk Khunuk, woh fizaa-e-shaam jawaaN jawaaN

Yeh taKhayyulaat ki zindagee, yeh tasawwuraat ki bandagee
Faqat ek faraib-e-Kheyaal par mery zindagee hai rawaaN dawaaN

Hum nay mana is zamanay maiN hansi bhi jurm hai
Laikin is maahol maiN afsurdagi bhi jurm hai

Dushmani tu khair har surat main hoti hai gunah
Ek muayyan hadd say aagay dosti bhi jurm hai

Hum wafa kar kay rakhtay hain wafaon ki umeed
Dosti main is qadar saudagari bhi jurm hai

Iss say pehlay zindagi main itni pabandi na thi
ab to jaisay khud wajood-e-zindagi bhi jurm hai

Aadmi is zindagi say bach kay jaeey bhi kahaan
Maikashi bhi jurm hai aur khud kushi bhi jurm hai

Aik saaghar kay liyay jo baich dain apna zameer
Aisay rindooN kay liyay tashna labee bhi jurm hai

Apni baynoori ka hum Iqbal maatum kion karain
Aaj kay halaat main deeda waree bhi jurm hai

do din juda raha tau naya ho gaya koi

wo bhi mujhe aziz tha main bhi usey aziz
phir jane kiya huwa k khafa ho gaya koi

meri nazar nay us ko khad-o khaal dey dye
zehra jamaal-e sheh’r-e saba ho gaya koi

mehfil main tha tau chaand ki soorat sabeeh tha
tanha mila tau rung-e hina ho gaya koi

is khush ada guraiz k qurbaan jaai’yye
mujh ko salaam kar k hawa ho gaya koi

ilzaam hum pe aaya k hum musta’id na thai
jab bhi kisi ka teer khata ho gaya koi

mujh jaise be-nawa ko nawaza ba-sadd khuloos
yoo’n bhi barha tha aur barha ho gaya koi

Hazrat Wasif Ali Wasif(R.A)

 

Wasif Ali Wasif(R.A)(15 January 1929 – 18 January 1993) was a teacher, writer, poet and sufi intellectual from Pakistan. He was famous for his unique literary style. He used to write short pieces of prose on topics like love, life, fortune, fear, hope, expectation, promise, prayer, happiness, sorrow and so on. He was the regular columnist of Pakistani Urdu newspaper Daily Nawa-i-Waqt. His 1st column named “Muhabbat”. In his life most of his columns were combined to form books with his own selected title. He did poetry in Urdu and Punjabi languages. Probably no contemporary Urdu writer is more cited in quotations than he is. Later years he used to answer questions in specially arranged gatherings at Lahore attended by the notable community. Some of these sessions were recorded in audio and were later published as Guftgoo (talk) series. His mehfils never had a set subject nor did he lecture on chosen topics. His way was to ask people if they had questions and then he responded to these in his highly original style. His thought was more on mysticism, spirituality and humanity. There are about 40 books to his credit including “Shab Chiragh”, “Kiran Kiran Sooraj”, and “Dil Darya Samundar”. It is self-evident that his books as well as recordings of talks are a treasure trove of wisdom.

rishta-e-Dil tere zamaane mein
rasm hi kya nibahni hoti
muskuraaye hum us se miltay waqt
ro na paRtay agar khushi hoti?

meri aql-o-hosh ki sab haalatein
tumne saanche mein junoo.n kay Dhaal deen
kar liya tha main ne ehd-e-tark-e-ishq
tumne phir baahe.n gale mein Daal deen

sharm, dehshat, jhijhak, pareeshani
naaz se kaam kiun nahin letin
"aap”, "woh”, "ji”,”magar” yeh sab kya hai
tum mera naam kyun nahin letin

hai mohabbat hayaat ki lazzat
warna kuchh lazzat-e-hayaat nahin
kya ijazat hai aik baat kahun
woh…magar khair koi baat nahin

ehd-e-waabastagi guzaar kay main
wajh-e-waabastagi ko bhool gaya
yaani tum woh ho! waaqai? Had hai!
main to sach much sabhi ko bhool gaya!

ajab tha us ki dildaari ka andaaz
woh barson baad jab mujhse mila hai
bhala main poochhta us se to kaise
mataa-e-jaa.n tumhara naam kya hai?

saal ha saal aur aik lamha
koi bhi to na in mein bal aaya
khud hi ik dar pe main ne dastak di
khud hi laRka sa main nikal aaya


hai yeh baazaar jhoo ka baazaar
to yahi jins kiun na tole.n hum
kar kay ik doosray se ehd-e-wafa
aao kuchh dair jhooT bole.n hum

انسانوں میں آرزوئیں پیدا ہوتی ہی رہتی ہیں –

کوئی آرزو شکست آرزو تک سفر کرتی ہے –

کوئی آرزو انسان کو بے نیاز آرزو کر دیتی ہے –

کوئی آرزو اس کو روبرو لاتی ہے –

اور کبھی کوئی آرزو اس کو خوشقسمتی سے سرخرو کر دیتی ہے –

کونسی آرزو کیا کرتی ہے انسان کو اس کا علم ہونا چاہیے –
